Spicy 🌶 Crab Dip

Hubby happened to pick up some lump crab meat while we were grocery shopping to eat with his salad. I hadn’t made anything with crab meat in a few years and decided to make some crab dip. I also had yeast bread rising at home to make a fresh ciabatta loaf and thought crab dip would be a perfect combination.

Ingredients

1 TBSP hot pepper oil (I used Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Italian Infused with Calabrian Chile Pepper & Roasted)

2 TBSP butter

½ large jalapeño pepper seeded and finely chopped

3 green onions, chopped

16 oz cream cheese, room temperature

1 ½ cups white cheddar cheese, shredded

24 oz lump crab meat

salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Using a large sauce pan, with fire on medium, add hot pepper oil and butter. Once oil is heated and butter is melted, add jalapeños. Sauté pepper and half of the green onions until soft, about 3 minutes. Add cream cheese and stir. When cream cheese is melted, turn heat down to low and add shredded cheddar cheese. Stirring to keep cheese from burning, add remaining green onion. Turn off heat and add crab meat. Gently stir until crab is incorporated into cheese mixture, remove from stove and serve warm.
