I first did this post in July of 2009 on a different blog.  I’m re-posting it here to share with everyone – my adventures in learning to decorate cakes and cupcakes.

Since Asaria’s 2nd birthday on Saturday, I’ve been thinking of trying to decorate a cake on my own. With encouragement of My Hunny, I decided to give it a go. Not only did I decorate a cake, I made a white cake from scratch. My other attempts at basic yellow and white cakes failed. *chuckle*

So armed with new skills and support, I decided to try it out. Let’s just say I DID IT!!! *jumping up and down* with a few minor set backs.

The Daughters of Destiny enjoyed the cake as much as I did. I do have to say that I used a boxed frosting I got from Whole Foods. The frosting was fine, where I ran into trouble was trying to add stuff to the frosting to make it stiff. Ummm, I probably should have just left it alone. So, picture me literally standing with my freezer door open, cake inside of freezer and me decorating and frosting a cake because my frosting is practically the consistency of honey (and not the thick kind you scoop out with a spoon either *chuckle*)

Anyway, here are the pictures I took of the cake I made. Enjoy!
